Managing PII data fields

DataDetective (Early Access) agent lets you manage the data field categorization. You can suggest tracking new data fields and changes to the categories of existing data fields. You can directly influence how your data is categorized and ensure that PII or sensitive data is handled according to your preferences.

Prerequisites​

To use DataDetective, you must have the following:

  • The piiDataInsights feature is enabled on your account.
  • Integration Build Read access or Integration Build Read Write access. Read User roles and privileges to learn more about default Boomi Enterprise Platform roles and permissions.
  • DataDetective Read Write access. Contact your Boomi Administrator to enable this privilege.

Important considerations

  • DataDetective currently supports the English language only.
  • If you suggest a new data field that already exists, your new suggestion will overwrite the existing entry.
  • When you suggest changes to an existing field, you can change only the categories; you cannot edit the field name.
  • The suggestion of new data fields and changes to the categories of existing data fields does not affect the performance or functionality of the model.
  • DataDectective displays information for up to 1000 data fields, and the data is refreshed weekly from your Integration account.
  • You can access the DataDetective agent from the main platform page. Please contact your account representative to get started.

Suggesting new data fields

  1. In DataDetective, click Add Data Field to suggest the new data field.
  2. In the Name field, type the data field name.
  3. Select the appropriate Category for the data field. You can choose either PII or Sensitive. For the PII category, you can select one or more subcategories: Financial, Health, Job, and Personal.

You cannot select both the PII and Sensitive categories for the data field.

  1. Click Save. The Request Sent dialog appears, indicating that your submission has been recorded.
    • If the suggested new data field already exists, your new suggestions will overwrite the existing entry.
    • Otherwise, the suggested new data field will be recorded as a new entry.
  2. Optional: Click Add More to add more data fields and repeat steps 2-4 for each data field you want to suggest.

Suggesting changes to the existing data field

  1. In DataDetective, select the Table tab.
  2. Select the Data Field in the Group By toggle to view the table arranged by PII data fields.
  3. Click Feedback to suggest changes to the data field.
  4. To change the data field category, select the appropriate Category for the data field. You can choose either PII or Sensitive. For the PII category, you can select one or more subcategories: Financial, Health, Job, and Personal.
  5. Click Save. The Request Sent dialog appears, indicating that your submission has been recorded.
